LAUREN KNIGHT ART
So I thought I would tell you about of background on what Lauren Knight Art is and how i turned my childhood hobby into a small business.

I have always loved art and specifically to draw with pencils. I remember always drawing as a child! My passion grew even more when i started to have a lot of time of in secondary school. With what was going on in my early teens, i felt drawing was an escape for me! I could shut out all of my personal problems and find a release in my art. Every day that I wasn't at school, i would create so many drawings. From the minute i woke up to me not wanting to go to sleep, because I wanted to create more! I was incredible inspired by Kristina Webb, who at the time, was an Australian teen artist. We have very similar styles and she then inspired me to create a Facebook Page to share my art with the world.

When I created my art page, it was originally called 'Inked Up'. I was trying to be cool and creative with the name but it never stuck. So later i would change it to something more simple, 'Lauren Knight Art'. I would post drawings of Disney characters, portraits of celebrities and soon i had people inboxing me as to draw them! I remember the first time someone bought a drawing from me, it was a portrait of Minnie Mouse and i sold it for £5. Eventually i started advertising my portraits for sale in Facebook groups and that was the beginning on my small business!

Back then at the age of 12, I loved the feeling of earning my own money at a young age. A few years went by and because i was receiving so many orders, i lost my passion for drawing portraits. It became more of a stress to have these portraits created on time for the customers. So i stopped drawing for two years.

Fast forward to February 2019, I was inspired to start drawing again. But this time I knew i wanted to be able to have this as a source of income. I started to really educate myself on art. I would Youtube other artists, to watch the correct ways to draw and how to use artistry equipment. I wanted to get more skilled with my portraits and that helped with business a lot! I was blown away by the positive response i had received and the amount of orders that were placed! I was making enough money to live alone and save.

So I hope you take away something from this story. I turned a bad situation in my life into a positive , you can always do the same too! If you have a passion, dream or hobby you can always turn it into something much bigger. You just have to stay determined, have the right mindset and don't let any set backs stop you from getting where you want to be.
